Spotlight on Dr. Amy Liszt
Dr. Amy Liszt is an education leader with a deep commitment to enhancing the educational experience of all learners. A passionate educator with over 23 years of experience in public education as a teacher and school and district leader, Dr. Liszt currently serves as an assistant professor in the Teaching of Exceptional Learners program at Relay Graduate School of Education. She is also the founder of AVIVA consulting, an education consulting firm specializing in supporting adults to promote positive social, emotional and academic development of children. Dr. Liszt previously served as the Deputy Executive Director of Special Education at the New York City Department of Education, the Director of Quality Instruction at the Chicago Public Schools, a strategic consultant at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Executive Director of a Chicago-based charter school. Her passion for education was sparked as a teacher of exceptional learners in New York City and she remains a passionate advocate for specialized learning needs. Dr. Liszt received a doctorate in Public School and School District Leadership from Columbia University Teachers College, a Masters in Social Work from Columbia University School of Social Work and a Masters in Education from Bank Street College. When not teaching, she loves spending time with her husband, two children who are students in the Edgemont School district, her dog, and going on long bike rides.
