Racism and sexism can show up in the most typical comments that teachers say to their students. In this session, we will watch and discuss a portion of a talk given by Deborah Lowenberg Ball showing how minute-by-minute decisions that teachers make can help elevate students as mathematical thinkers, or, conversely, perpetuate sexism and racism without realizing it.
