Creating Culturally Sustaining, Universally Designed Classrooms

All teachers aim to provide students with enriching, responsive learning environments designed to meet the diverse needs of their students. However, many wonder how to most effectively remove barriers to learning while establishing classrooms that are culturally responsive and sustaining. During this session, we will discuss overlaps between the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework and culturally responsive teaching practices. We will discuss strategies that leverage the principles of UDL to support the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse students.
